Healthy eating, exercise, and keeping clean

To be healthy you need to eat good food.

Sandwiches are good food. They help our brain to work.

Fruit and vegetables are good for us. They have lots of good things in it.

Milk gives us strong muscles and bones.

Water is the best thing to drink!

Exercise makes you big and strong . Running is good exercise. Push ups are good exercises, too!

Having a shower makes you clean.

Make sure you clean your room!

Clean your clothes in the washing machine.

Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each time.

Ice blocks

On Monday room 1 made fruit traffic light ice blocks.

We used use a blender to mix the fruit and make it into a juice. 

First we used strawberries and pineapple to make the red part. That part went in first. We put the strawberry mixture into the ice block molds with a spoon.



Next we did the mango. We mixed the mango with pineapple and then we use another spoon to put the mango into the molds. It went on top of the strawberry.

After that we mixed up the kiwifruit with some pineapple and some mango. We had to add mango to make it tasty and yum. Without any mango it was too sour.

The ice block holders were beautiful and colourful. We made a lot of ice blocks. We think they will be tasty and very yummy.

They have lots of different fruit in them, 4 different kinds of fruit! We could make them again using apple, banana, pear, orange, manderines, blueberries, grapes, peaches.... anything that you can think of!

Mustard Cress Update

What happened to the seeds?
Plants grew out of them. We can see shoots and roots.
The seeds split and the plants came out.

The shoots aren't all green. Some of the shoot is white.
The roots are white. They have hairs coming out. The roots are trying to get the water.
There are 2 leaves at the top. They are green on one side and purple on the other.

Next we think the plants are going to grow some more. They might get some more leaves. They might get bigger, like trees. The leaves might get bigger. The shoot might turn all green. 

Growing Mustard Cress

We are trying to grow mustard cress. We know that plants need water to grow.

There was water in the grey container. We put a paper towel onto a plastic lid. Then we put water on top. Then we put the seeds on top of that!

The seeds are tiny. But they are going to grow!

We put the seeds by the window so they would get lots of sun. Plants needs water and sun to grow. The plants are going to come out of the seeds. The plants might get big. Maybe there will be some flowers!

Growing Beans (we hope!)

We got some seeds. We are going to try to grow the beans. We want them to grow high to the sun!

We put the seeds in cotton balls. We put water on top of the seeds so that they can grow. The can't grow without water!

We put them by the window so they would get lots of sun. The plants won't grow without any sun!
