Pencil cases

Today everyone in room 1 got new pencil cases! We like them! Mrs Bon came to give us the pencil cases. Mrs Bons daughter didn't want her pencil case anymore. Mrs Bon decided to give all the pencils to room 1!Mrs Bon made the pencil cases. We wonder if she got tired dong that!

Our pencil cases are colourful. They aren't all the same. They are different! Some look very similar.

We like them because they are colourful. Some of them look like the are racing car ones! We like the rubbers and the pencils. We also think the felts are really cool!

We are going to keep our pencil cases in our bookbags. We will take them home at night and bring them to school in the morning. That way we can use them at home AND at school. We might need to ask Mrs Whatford really nicely if we can take some paper home to draw on. We are going to look after our pencil cases so we can keep them for a long time.

We are going to draw Mrs Bon a lovely picture to say thank you!

Mustard Cress Update

What happened to the seeds?
Plants grew out of them. We can see shoots and roots.
The seeds split and the plants came out.

The shoots aren't all green. Some of the shoot is white.
The roots are white. They have hairs coming out. The roots are trying to get the water.
There are 2 leaves at the top. They are green on one side and purple on the other.

Next we think the plants are going to grow some more. They might get some more leaves. They might get bigger, like trees. The leaves might get bigger. The shoot might turn all green. 

Growing Mustard Cress

We are trying to grow mustard cress. We know that plants need water to grow.

There was water in the grey container. We put a paper towel onto a plastic lid. Then we put water on top. Then we put the seeds on top of that!

The seeds are tiny. But they are going to grow!

We put the seeds by the window so they would get lots of sun. Plants needs water and sun to grow. The plants are going to come out of the seeds. The plants might get big. Maybe there will be some flowers!

Growing Beans (we hope!)

We got some seeds. We are going to try to grow the beans. We want them to grow high to the sun!

We put the seeds in cotton balls. We put water on top of the seeds so that they can grow. The can't grow without water!

We put them by the window so they would get lots of sun. The plants won't grow without any sun!

J is for Jelly beans Part 2

 We changed water to the same colour as the jelly beans. The yellow jelly beans don't have any more colour. The purple ones have a little bit of colour.

We took the purple jelly beans out of the plastic bag with a spoon. We then put them in a cup. Then we put water in the cup. We want to see what happens to the water now.

J is for jelly beans!

Today room 1 put some yellow and purple jelly beans into plastic bags. We then added water to the bags to see what will happen. We think that the jelly beans will turn the water purple and yellow.

We will look again tomorrow to see if we are right!
